Day in the Life of Fostering Administrator Paige
At Unity Foster Care, we pride ourselves on supporting foster carers, children, and young people in Yorkshire and areas of the North East.
One member of our small but mighty team is Administrator Paige. We spoke to Paige to find out more about what a ‘day in the life’ looks like for her.
Tell us about yourself.
My name is Paige, and I am the Administrator here at Unity Foster Care. I am fairly recently married with two young children that I adore, and I can’t forget my little cat Binx. I started with Unity in June 2023 and have loved it ever since.
When I first had my interview, I soon realised what an amazing team worked at Unity and how important the work is for our amazing carers and the children they look after.
What does your current role involve?
I chase children’s statutory documents to ensure we are complying with Ofsted Regulations. I also assist the events team with the admin side of the event planning and book all meeting rooms for support groups, training, events and meetings.
What does a typical day look like for you?
I start my day by checking my emails and flagging anything that needs attention. I then move on to my document chases, event admin and any other tasks that colleagues need assistance with.
What’s the best thing about your role?
The best thing about my role is meeting the amazing children. Being in the office means I don’t get to see them as much, so it is always a privilege when I do get to see them.
What advice would you give to someone who is considering fostering?
My advice would be to ask as many questions as you can, especially to our amazing Recruitment Officer Gemma, who is always happy to answer any questions and gives detailed and thorough answers. Fostering is amazing but ask the questions to ensure it is right for you.
What do you get up to in your spare time?
I love to spend time with my husband and children and get a takeaway, watch movies, and eat lots of snacks.
