JOB DESCRIPTION - Independent Social Worker Form F Assessors

Salary: Competitive Rates

Location: Leeds/Darlington

Unity Foster Care an Independent Fostering Agency are looking for self-employed Form F assessors to join their growing team!

  • Mileage paid
  • Enhanced DBS required
  • Recognised professional social work qualification. (DipSW or equivalent) required
  • Social Work England registration
  • Good knowledge of Child Care legislation which includes the Children Act 1989, Fostering and Adoption Act 2002, the National Minimum Standards for Fostering Services, and Fostering Services Regulations.

You will ideally have experience in completing Form F Assessments, however as our experienced team will provide support and guidance throughout both the assessment process and Panel presentation, we also welcome applications from all social work qualified professionals with sound assessment skills and a strong safeguarding background.

Supervising Social Worker

Job Title: Supervising Social Worker

Location: Leeds

Salary: £33,454 - £39,727

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Supervising Social Worker to join the team at Unity Foster Care. We are looking for a passionate and experienced Social Worker to join our team in the Leeds area.

As a Supervising Social Worker with Unity Foster Care you will hold a manageable caseload allowing you to play a key role in ensuring our foster carers & children/young people have the support, guidance and training they need to thrive. You will collaborate with of our dedicated clinical and support teams to ensure the right support is in place for our Carers, Children and young people.

As a Supervising Social Worker you will keep in touch and undertake home visits with our foster carers & children/young people becoming an essential point of contact. You will be responsible for ensuring that children’s care and development needs are met within placements by undertaking necessary placement management, planning and intervention for both emergency and planned referrals. As a key member within the team you will ensure that our children/young people have a safe, stable environment in which they feel Loved, cared for and are nurtured to reach their full potential.


What we’re looking for


To apply for this position, it is essential you:

  • Hold a recognised Social Work qualification
  • Have a current Social Work England registration
  • Hold a full UK Driving Licence and have a vehicle
  • Are willing to undertake an enhanced DBS
  • Have experience in children’s services and foster care delivery
  • Willing to participate in an out of hours telephone support system and undertake occasional out of hours/weekend work by attending events, meetings and training

Support Worker

Job Title: Support Worker
Location: Leeds
Salary: Up to £26,000
Working Pattern: 37.5hrs a week, flexibility required to work evenings and weekends

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Support Worker to join the team at Unity Foster Care. We are looking for a passionate and dedicated support worker to be based at our Leeds Office, supporting foster carers and foster families.

The Role

As Support Worker you will be supporting the fostering household, according to their needs as defined by the Placement Plan. Support Workers will support the whole fostering family, including birth children and foster parents.

Our Support Workers also offer support to the Supervising Social Work team - this could involve weekly support calls to foster carers and any other support that is deemed necessary. The visits from a support worker are quarterly as a minimum, but they can be weekly, fortnightly, or monthly too. All visits are completed with a person-centred approach.

The successful candidate will also attend and participate in events aimed at recruiting prospective foster carers and complete initial visits to households expressing an interest in fostering.

For this role, willingness to travel and use of a car is essential as the successful applicant will be required to support foster carers and visit placements across the Leeds area.

Our Support Worker responsibilities cover the following:

  • Supporting Foster carers – this may be in respect of behaviour management, managing teenagers
  • Foster Carer training around relevant topics including: staying safe on social media and online gaming, self-esteem building, healthy relationships, anti-bullying, first aid, drugs and alcohol awareness, CSE awareness, what to expect from court appearances, rights to education and having a future focus.
  • Leaving care support: Supporting foster carers in teaching young people semi independence with relevant information for the young person and also challenges to take part in including; cooking, budgeting, using local services such as the post office and the bank.
  • Gaining feedback from foster carers in regards to their wishes and feelings

Other roles and responsibilities

  • Developing training sessions for Foster Carers
  • Weekly, Fortnightly, Monthly, Quarterly Visits
  • Devising work to support Foster Carers needs
  • Work on retention with foster carers when they are struggling
  • Be involved in foster carer annual review process
  • Support the Supervising Social Work team
  • Complete any other tasks to meet the service needs

What we’re looking for…

  • Willing to undertake an enhanced DBS
  • Experience within foster care
  • An understanding of challenging behaviours and trauma
  • A good understanding of the needs of looked after children
