Foster Care This Week

Welcome to today’s spooky Monday post….spooky because it’s Monday! We’re delving into the news this week and highlighting items we feel are important in the world of foster care.

We’ve found a very interesting article this week, posted on The Guardian, by an anonymous foster carer. It’s a very emotive read, as the author discusses one of the fundamental roles of foster carers – which is the task of saying goodbye. This topic is often overlooked and therefore isn’t covered a whole lot, despite it being one of the most difficult responsibilities of foster carers. Here’s just one of our favourite quotes:

‘I can’t count the number of times that we’ve been told, “I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t give them back”. It is true. We can’t either. Is that not the cost of love?’
