Foster Care Fortnight 2023 – Nazelko’s story!

Winner of Foster Carer of the Year 2022 at last year’s Children’s Achievement Awards, Nazelko is a Yorkshire-based foster carer here at Unity Foster Care! Nazelko spoke to us about what fostering community means to him:

How long have you been a foster carer?

“It’s been over 2 years now!”

Why did you want to become a foster carer?

“I wanted to become a foster carer to help make a difference to a child’s life, and to support them along their journey by making a positive impact!”

The theme for Foster Care Fortnight 2023 is #FosteringCommunities. What does a fostering community mean to you?

“I love how we all have the same outlook and same goals! The support you receive is immense.”

If you could give advice to someone interested in becoming a foster carer, what would it be?

“Fostering is so rewarding – especially when you know you’re making a difference to a child’s life”
